One of the things we love most about living and working in Johnson County is how much there is to do right here in our own backyard. Summer is when that really shows, with farmers’ markets, festivals, and everything happening downtown.

If you’ve got a weekend to fill, here are a few of our favorite local events to check out.

Start with the farmers’ markets. The Greenwood Farmers Market is a Saturday morning favorite, packed with fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and local vendors. Over in Franklin, you’ll find another fantastic farmers’ market with live music and themed events throughout the season. And if weeknights work better for your schedule, the Bargersville Farmers Market brings together local vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment on Wednesday evenings.

There’s even more to explore downtown. Downtown Franklin hosts the Ethos Celebration of the Arts, where you’ll find local artists, live music, food, and plenty of family-friendly activities. Music lovers won’t want to miss the Bargersville Summer Concert Series. Grab a lawn chair, enjoy some great food, and spend an evening listening to live music with friends and neighbors.

And no summer here is complete without the fair. The Johnson County Fair is a tradition that brings the entire community together every single year. From fair food and rides to livestock shows and entertainment, it has something for everyone.
